How to Make Fresh Chamomile Tea
There is nothing more comforting than a warm cup of chamomile tea before bed. When you grow it yourself, the experience is even more special. The fresh, apple-like aroma of homegrown chamomile is something you'll never find in a store-bought tea bag.
Harvesting Your Chamomile
The best time to harvest chamomile flowers is in the morning, after the dew has dried but before the sun is too hot. Choose flowers that are fully open. You can use them fresh or learn how to dry them for later use.
- For Fresh Tea: You'll need about 1 tablespoon of fresh flower heads per cup.
- For Dried Tea: You'll need about 1 teaspoon of dried flowers per cup.

Brewing Instructions
- Prepare the Flowers: Gently rinse your fresh chamomile flowers. If using dried, simply measure them out.
- Heat the Water: Bring your water to a near boil. You don't want to use boiling water as it can scorch the delicate flowers and create a bitter taste.
- Steep: Place the chamomile flowers in a tea infuser, teapot, or directly in your mug. Pour the hot water over them.
- Wait: Cover your mug or pot and let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes. The longer it steeps, the stronger the flavor and effects will be.
- Enjoy: Strain the flowers out, add a touch of honey or lemon if you like, and sip your way to tranquility.
